M. Night Shyamalan is a master of horror and twists (and turns). When many discovered his work with The Sixth Sense, they became fascinated by the Shyamalan twist. We never knew where his movies were going. But then, he brought us the movie Trap in 2024 and it changed everything. Starring Josh Hartnett, the movie followed Cooper, a loving dad trying to take his daughter to a Lady Raven (Saleka Night) concert. The problem is that he is secretly a serial killer and the entire concert is a trap to catch him. And now fans can experience the magic of Shyamalan’s film for themselves on Netflix.

Trap is now the #1 movie on Netflix, which is impressive given how long the film has been out and been on streaming, but it makes sense if you know just how captivating the film is. Shyamalan mixes the use of music from Lady Raven and Cooper’s antics in such a fun way that the audience can’t help but sit on the edge of their seat as they try to figure out how he is going to get out of this without getting caught.

Sure, logistically, it is impossible to find a serial killer in the middle of a concert, but hey, for Hartnett and Shyamalan, we’re here for the ride. It is truly one of the best thrillers of the last few years because Shyamalan doesn’t take himself too seriously with it. It is fun and weird and yes, it is absolutely hilarious every time it cuts to the audience, and we get to see 6’3″ Hartnett towering over literally everyone around him. You wouldn’t want to be sat behind the Butcher. Not because of the serial killer stuff though, just because he’s tall.

The M. Night Shyamalan Movie Keeps on Giving

Since the release of Trap in 2024, jokes about the film have taken over social media. Whether it is a reference to heading to a Lady Raven concert or even making a joke about seeing her Live about a serial killer, fans have kept the love of Trap alive. And for good reason! It is one of the first Shyamalan movies in a while where fans have continued to praise it because Trap really is that kind of unique horror movie we’ve come to know and love from the director!
