Chris Pratt Is Ready to Battle Rebecca Ferguson in New Look at AI-Fueled Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Mercy’ [Exclusive]
Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson are two of the biggest movie stars in the world right now, and they’ll soon go head-to-head in the realm of sci-fi in a hotly anticipated new thriller. As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event this winter, we’re happy to partner with Amazon MGM to exclusively preview a new image of Pratt in Mercy. The film is set in the near future, and it will follow a detective (Pratt) who stands trial for the murder of his wife. He has only 90 minutes to prove his innocence to an AI judge (Ferguson), before it’s too late.
Mercy will be released in theaters on January 26, 2026. As an Amazon MGM production, it is expected to stream on Prime Video and/or Amazon MGM+ at the end of its theatrical run. Marco van Belle wrote the script for Mercy, and Timur Bekmambetov directed the film. Other than Pratt and Ferguson in the leading roles, Mercy also stars Annabelle Wallis, Michael C. Mahone, Noah Fearnley, Kenneth Choi, Chris Sullivan, and more. The first trailer for Mercy came out at NYCC, and it blew fans away — it’s easily one of the most anticipated sci-fi movies of 2026.
Chris Pratt first made a name for himself starring in the popular TV show Parks & Recreation as Andy Dwyer, and he later exploded to new levels of fame thanks to his role as Star Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Ferguson cemented her status as a massive action star in the Mission: Impossible movies with Tom Cruise, and now she’s headlining the best sci-fi series on Apple TV, Silo.
What’s Next for Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson After ‘Mercy’?
Before Mercy, Chris Pratt will be seen in theaters in The Way of the Warrior Kid, which is coming out on Christmas Day. Afterward, he’ll return to his role as Mario in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which is out in theaters everywhere on April 3, 2026. As for Ferguson, she’ll return in the third season of Silo sometime next year, and she’ll also be seen alongside Cillian Murphy in The Immortal Man, the Peaky Blinders movie in the works at Netflix. She’ll even reprise her role as Lady Jessica in Dune: Part Three, which will be released on December 18, 2026.
Check out the new image from Mercy above and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of the film, as well as more from our winter preview series.
