‘Ransom Canyon’ and ‘Slow Horses’ Stars Soak in the Magic of Paris at Christmas in New ‘Champagne Problems’ Image [Exclusive]

Few locales match the romantic air of The City of Lights, but at Christmastime, Paris can be even more magical. That’s certainly the case in Netflix‘s upcoming romantic comedy, Champagne Problems, set to premiere on the platform on November 19. The film sends Minka Kelly, one of the key stars of the streamer’s romantic western series, Ransom Canyon, to France during the holidays to close one of the biggest deals of her life as an on-the-rise executive. However, the trip is complicated by an unexpected run-in with a charming stranger, played by Slow Horses alum Tom Wozniczka. As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event for winter movies and shows, we can share a new image that highlights the magic in the air between the couple.

Champagne Problems follows Sydney Price (Kelly), who finally gets her big break when asked to lead the acquisition of the beloved Château Cassell champagne house. To close the deal on the lovely estate in the heart of Champagne country, however, she’s summoned to France with high hopes that negotiations will go smoothly. Once there, she takes one night off to appreciate the majesty of Paris lit up for the holidays, only to cross paths with Henri Cassell (Wozniczka), a Parisian Prince Charming who turns her night into a whirlwind romance. Their meet-cute is complicated, however, by the fact that he’s the son of the founder of the very company she’s hoping to close the deal for. It will only become harder to keep their feelings under wraps over time, even as Sydney engages in some light competition against the other prospective vineyard buyers.

In our exclusive image, Sydney and Henri can be seen taking a romantic carriage ride through the city. Nestled together with a blanket and sharing passionate looks, they appear more than ready for a magical evening in Paris that could just be the beginning of a longer, loving relationship. Although not much is shown beyond their carriage, the glittering Christmas tree and lights in the background tease a gorgeous backdrop for the pair’s blossoming love story. The only question is whether their passion for each other will survive amid the high-stakes business Sydney has planned.

Who Else Is on Board for ‘Champagne Problems’?

Netflix has been pushing to be a go-to source for holiday romance, rivaling Hallmark, and Champagne Problems looks to bolster their ranks with a talented cast. In addition to Kelly and Wozniczka, the film features All Quiet on the Western Front‘s Thibault de Montalemert as the château’s founder, Hugo Cassell, alongside Sean Amsing, Flula Borg, Astrid Whettnall, Xavier Samuel, Mitchell Mullen, and Maeve Courtier-Lilley. The film is directed by Mark Steven Johnson, who previously wrote and directed Love in the Villa for the streamer, though he’s perhaps best remembered for helming Nicolas Cage‘s Ghost Rider and Ben Affleck‘s Daredevil. Rounding out the team are producers Stephanie Slack and Margret H. Huddleston.
