It’s time to remember, remember once again. Warner Bros., DC, and Fathom Events have officially announced that The Wachowskis2006 classic V for Vendetta is returning to theaters for its 20th anniversary, with screenings set for November 1 and November 5, 2026 — exactly twenty years to the week after its original release.

The announcement, revealed fittingly on November 5, 2025, came with a chilling new 20th anniversary trailer featuring V’s iconic monologue — the same speech that once called citizens to rise against tyranny. The campaign marks the start of a year-long countdown leading to what Fathom describes as “a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgotten.”

“From its early days as a graphic novel and then a feature film, few properties have struck a chord with fans and been more thought-provoking societally than V for Vendetta,” said Tom Lucas, Fathom’s VP of Studio Relations. “Twenty years later, the movie still resonates, and Fathom is so pleased to bring it back to theatres next November with our partners at Warner Bros. and Saga Arts.”

What Is ‘V for Vendetta’ About?

Based on Alan Moore and David Lloyd’s acclaimed 1980s graphic novel, V for Vendetta envisioned a near-future England ruled by a white nationalist, fascist regime — a government that condemned those who were different to imprisonment and death. The 2006 film, adapted by the Wachowskis and directed by James McTeigue, became one of DC’s most acclaimed adaptations, striking a lasting cultural chord with its themes of rebellion, freedom, and resistance.

Set against the backdrop of a totalitarian Britain, the story follows V (played by Hugo Weaving), a masked revolutionary inspired by Guy Fawkes, and Evey Hammond (Natalie Portman), a young woman whose life is changed when she joins his crusade. Together, they ignite a movement against a government that rules through fear. The film also features standout performances from Stephen Rea, Stephen Fry, and John Hurt, with unforgettable imagery and dialogue that remain as haunting today as they were in 2006.

“Remember, remember, the fifth of November,” has become more than a line of dialogue — it’s a mantra that transcended the film itself. The Guy Fawkes mask, popularized by V for Vendetta, became a universal symbol of protest and resistance, used by activists around the world.

V for Vendetta returns to theaters November 1 and November 5, 2026.
